You want to change your diet but you don't know where or how to start? There are so many different diets out there these days that you feel totally overwhelmed and end up not doing anything at all.
SO often people look to change the foods they are eating first and, honestly, that makes sense. "I want to change my diet, my food is my diet...soooo?"
But let's be real, how many times have you just followed a perfect set of macros or calories or "approved food" list and only found success for a few days before it's back to your old ways?
That is because it is so much more than food. It is more than just what you put in your mouth. You need to start with things that almost feel like they have nothing to do with food. Yep, you heard me.
I want you to change your diet by focusing on things that aren't food.
1. Goal setting - if your goal is not very very specific and you don't understand why this thing is important to you, it will be easy to fall off course. Write down a S.M.A.R.T. goal (sustainable- measurable- attainable - realistic - time based) and then ask yourself "Why is this important" 5 times.
2. Planning - if you have a plan as to what not only you will eat but when you will eat and what your days in general look like, you have a starting point.
3. Limiting Beliefs- If you tell yourself something long enough, eventually you will believe it to be true even if it's not. Identifying what those "fake facts" are and getting a plan in place to shift your thought process is key. If you believe you are unable to follow through on anything you try to accomplish- then you won't. It is as simple as that.
4. Relationship Editing - you decide to spend money on a gym membership ir a bike or a coach...and the closest people to you laugh and ridicule you. Guess what? This is YOUR goal, not theirs. Understanding you are able to edit those relationships - with a lot of work and effort- so that their beliefs don't impact you or your goals.
Then there are things like drinking enough water, sleeping enough, eating the right number of calories....those will come. As will macros and supplementation and nutrition timing.
You wouldn't build a house from the top down. You need to build a solid foundation for food changes to rest on. That way when it comes time to chat about food, you have the tools you need to crush the specifics.
