Have you ever heard someone say "Do as I say, not as I do?"
You know how the story goes, because you do it all the time I'm sure.
You make sure your loved ones are eating well, including food shopping and cooking. You check in to make sure they are getting enough sleep. You help them with things around the house, cleaning their clothes, doing their dishes. You ask them from time to time, "you doing ok?" or "is there is anything I can help you with?"
You are awesome. You are a great wife, mother, girlfriend and friend.
Now I have a question for you: Are you doing ok? Is there anything I can help you with?
When was the last time someone asked you or you asked yourself these questions? When was the last time you took the time to put yourself, your health and happiness on one of the front burners and not pushed to the back?
I know there is a lot to do, but think about this...If you are too burnt out or unhappy to accomplish your to-do list, then what happens?
Or maybe you have little ones running around that you need to take care of. What kind of example are you, sitting there telling them to take care of themselves and that they are important? They think you are important and they see how you treat yourself....you know how the old saying goes, "monkey see, monkey do."
Put your oxygen mask on first. Make yourself equally or more important as those you care for.
Now, I get it. It sounds so simple but it just isn't that easy.
YOU HAVE TO START SOMEWHERE.
Drink your water.
Get adequate sleep.
Eat your veggies.
Ask for help when you need it.
Remind yourself, no longer do you need to live in the "Do as I say, not as I do" world. It's time to do what you say. You owe that to not only yourself, but the ones around you that love you and care for you as much as you do for them.
